Twitter’s New Abuse Rules Could Be Used Against Conservatives…

There is a really interesting change in Twitter’s online abuse rules, and it really appears as if they could be used to kick conservatives off the social media platform if they are reported by the left.

Yahoo News explains the change:

Twitter Inc has clarified its definition of abusive behaviour that will prompt it to delete accounts, banning “hateful conduct” that promotes violence against specific groups.

The social media company disclosed the changes on Tuesday in a blog post, following rising criticism it was not doing enough to thwart Islamic State’s use of the site for propaganda and recruitment.

“As always, we embrace and encourage diverse opinions and beliefs, but we will continue to take action on accounts that cross the line into abuse,” Megan Cristina, director of Trust and Safety, said in the blog.

The new rules do not mention Islamic State or any other group by name.

“You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability or disease,” according to the revised rules. (

The company previously used a more generic warning that banned users from threatening or promoting “violence against others.”

Notice that it reports the changes as targeting ISIS, but the wording is SO vague that it could really apply to anyone:

“You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people…”

Clearly, promoting violence is out of line, and threatening others shouldn’t be allowed. But what is a “direct attack”? How do you directly attack someone on Twitter? The only possible interpretation there is that words can be used as an “attack” – how do you define that? A threat or a promotion of violence is pretty clear, but a “direct attack” of words on Twitter is terribly vague….

Let me make my position very clear – I don’t believe Twitter is in a conspiracy to punish people on the right because they disagree with us on politics. But I DO believe that the left is way more organized to abuse the rules that social media companies set up in order to shut down free speech on the right.

Expect these rules to be used by the left to stifle those of us who don’t swallow the commie Kool-aid.

When High School Students Know More About ‘Gender Equality’ Than Grammar…
  • It looks like the SJW’s have won. We might have to start looking for another Twitter like place for righties to congregate.

  • We’re going to be left with Ricochet and AM radio.

Let them keep believing that censoring speech makes people magically disappear. It does not.
With every new move to censor speech, they make the bubble they live in smaller and smaller, they insulate themselves from the growing, cascading anger against them.
It makes them blind to what is coming. Good!
Censoring speech will not make that anger go away, it will only feed it and make it grow.
The look of shock, surprise and horror on their faces next November will be priceless.
Almost as good as the payback that will follow.

    And the Reins of Power.
Let them keep the worthless media and the worthless, echo-chamber leftie internet sites.
They are going to need those ‘safe spaces’ to go and cry after we cream their rears next November, and then proceed to crush them into dust afterwards.

  • If the right abandons Twitter the it’s no different than giving up ground. Remember, we were the early adopters of the site. And we are still make a sizable population on the site. Especially when you bring into the ‘count’ of how many bot/promotion accounts lefties (and left-leaning entities) have.

There is something about the DNA of a leftists. They always try to control speech. Communists in Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, etc, , You continue on with College campuses full of lefties who decide what you can and can’t say, speech zones; PC also a leftist disease. It is something of a mental illness with them…
