Thomas Sowell: Trump Will DISCREDIT Conservatism, We Need A THIRD PARTY Candidate!!

Conservative legend and icon Thomas Sowell warns that Trump could be another Herbert Hoover and discredit conservative ideas for decades, while ushering in another era of unbridled liberalism.

He said the only “slim chance” we have at avoiding this is a third party candidate:

What was once feared most by the Republican establishment — a third party candidate for president — may represent the only slim chance for saving this country from a catastrophic administration in an age of proliferating nuclear weapons.

If a third-party candidate could divide the vote enough to prevent anyone from getting an electoral-college majority, that would throw the election into the House of Representatives, where any semblance of sanity could produce a better president than these two.

Regardless of how that attempt at patching up an image turns out, Trump’s candidacy could be not only a current political setback for Republicans, but an enduring affliction in future elections.

For decades after Republican president Herbert Hoover was demonized because the Great Depression of the 1930s began on his watch, Democrats warned repeatedly, in a series of later presidential elections, that a vote for the Republican candidate was a vote to return to the days of Herbert Hoover.

It was 20 years before another Republican was elected president. As late as the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan was called, by the Democrats’ speaker of the House, “Hoover with a smile.” When a high official of the Reagan administration appeared before Congress to explain the administration’s policy, a Democratic senator said, “That’s Hoover talk, man!”

Sowell once said that if Obama was elected for a second term that he didn’t know if America would survive. It looks like it won’t be liberal policies that kill it, but an idiotic mindless populist backlash.

I agree completely with Doctor Sowell; however, if my
understanding is correct, it is too late in the game for
a third party to appear on the general election ballot in
Texas (my home state) this year. If I am wrong about
this, then I would appreciate being enlightened.
Whether I am right or I am wrong about the general e-
lection ballot in Texas, I am thoroughly convinced that
the time for starting a viable, national 3rd party is NOW.
At present, and if things go the way they seem to be go-
ing, my choices in November are going to be very limit-
ed. It appears that I will have two choices in the general
election in six months: I will be able to vote for a MAN
who is completely dishonest, who has no moral code,
who is a dishonorable human being, who is guided by
no writ of ethics, who is demonstratively untrustworthy,
and who is a left-leaning progressive/liberal with no core
values and no guiding principles, OR . . . I will be able
to vote for a WOMAN who is completely dishonest, who
holds to no moral code, who is a dishonorable human
being, who is guided by no writ of ethics, who is demon-
stratively untrustworthy, and who is a left-leaning pro-
gressive/liberal with no core values and no guiding prin-
It absolutely seems as though America has lost this
next general election; therefore, I firmly believe that we
need to begin building a winner for Year 2020, and this
is the time for the laying of that foundation.

I called for a GOP replacement party 4 years ago in numerous posts at FOX News and in other places. Seems America hasn’t experienced enough of the pain it needs to be motivated to do something to help itself.

Wasn’t it a protege of Mr. Sowell who said we should “Make It Politically Profitable For The Wrong People To Do The Right Things”?

I like Mr. Sowell. But I also like Mr. Friedman.

Perhaps we need to be prepared for a tragic loss in November, whether Trump wins or Hillary. If it’s Trump, we can hope and pray he decides to step down mid-2017 because he just doesn’t like the job, or he is impeached and removed from office. Maybe his VP will be a better president. If Hillary wins (which is likely), there’s a chance she could be impeached, too, but her running mate might be even worse! In the meantime, we have no idea who will be nominated to fill Scalia’s seat on the SCOTUS. It’s going to be very “iffy” in the coming months and years, and I weep for future generations.

God blessed the U.S. because the people loved and honored him, making it the greatest country ever. Trump is not the problem. The U.S. forgetting Christ is the problem. When Israel strayed; God used the heathen around them to chastise them into repentance. Now God is using the descendents of those people (Muslims) to chastise the US. 0bama is not the problem. 0bama is God’s response to the problem.
